  1. Animals received intratracheal instillation of vehicle, nano particles, OVA, or OVA + nano particles for 6 wk. Lungs were removed and fixed 24 h after the last intratracheal administration. Sections were stained with Diff-Quik for measurement of inflammatory cells around the airways or with PAS for goblet cells in the bronchial epithelium. Results are expressed as numbers of cells per length of basement membrane of airways.
