Lung tissue homogenates were collected and serially diluted in serum-free DMEM prior to plaque assay. Diluted virus mixtures were inoculated into confluent monolayers of HEp-2 cells to initiate virus infection. RSV rA2-line19F plaques were visualized using the DAB substrate. Plaques were counted and used to calculate the lung virus titer from each sample.
