WT mice housed in two SPF housing facilities exhibit differential survival in response to lung injury. The response to bleomycin was measured in WT mice that are all on a C57BL/6 background but born and raised in separate SPF animal housing facilities at the University of Chicago. Mice received 1.0 U/kg bleomycin intratracheally and were monitored daily for weight loss and survival. Mice were euthanized if they lost 25% or more of the original weight.
