Histological evaluation of lung tissues showed that neutrophil infiltration and the lung injury score were increased in the VILI group. Melatonin or ramelteon treatment significantly attenuated these histopathological changes, but the protective effect of melatonin and ramelteon was abrogated by luzindole treatment.
