Similar prevalence of inflammatory cells in the lungs of asthmatic hypoargininemic and control mice. F/A2wt/wt and F/A2tg/tg mice were either mock-sensitized with PBS and challenged with OVA (PBS/OVA) or sensitized and challenged with OVA (OVA/OVA) as indicated. Panel a, top row: H&E-stained sections of the peribronchiolar region of the lung; middle row: mMBP-positive (eosinophilic) cells; bottom row: MPO-positive (neutrophilic) cells. Panel S: quantification in the sections of inflammatory cells in OVA-OVA-treated F/A2wt/wt (white diamonds) and F/A2tg/tg mice (black diamonds). The sections that were compared were stained simultaneously. Inflammatory scores were analyzed per lung region, i.e. peribronchiolar, parenchymal and perivenous (around the lung veins), and scored on a scale from 0 to 3 by two independent observers. Medians and quartiles of 7–8 mice per group are shown (when not drawn, quartiles coincide with medians). No differences in inflammatory scores were found
