Simplified scheme of the S1PR2 signaling events in airway epithelial cells. On airway epithelial cells, S1P binds to S1PR2, which is coupled to GaI, Ga12/13, and GaQ. GaQ in turn activates PLC, activating PKC. PKC phosphorylates NFκB, which binds to the proximal promotor of CCL3 major nuclear proteins. In addition, another S1PR2-coupled G protein, Ga12/13, also up-regulates CCL3 expression through STAT3 activation in a Rho-dependent manner
