Effects of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) colonization on mechanical ventilation-induced lung injury. WT mice were intranasally instilled with live PA (1 × 106 CFU) or normal saline at 2 days before receiving ventilation for 3 h, and lung tissues were harvested and assayed. PA instillation (1 × 106 CFU) before mechanical ventilation increased the total number of cells (a) and protein concentration (b) in BALF of WT mice.
