A. LPS induced NO production by alveolar macrophages. Macrophages were stimulated with LPS (10–1000 ng/ml) for 24 hours. B. Downregulation of LPS (100 ng/ml) stimulated NO production in the rat alveolar macrophage cell line by different doses of budesonide and dexamethasone. NO production was assessed by determining NO2 - concentration in conditioned medium. LPS = lipopolysaccharide; IFN-γ = gamma interferon.
