Pump insertion does not alter allergic immune responses. Mice were sensitized and challenged with ovalbumin (OVA) as described in Methods. On the first day of OVA challenge (day 14, see Methods) a miniosmotic pump containing PBS (1×/100 ul) was inserted subcutaneously and delivered a constant dose of 25 ul/day. Cell counts were determined by differential staining of cells isolated from bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid. Total serum IgE and BAL cytokines (R&D Systems) were measured by ELISA.
