  1. Red blood parameters for the different treatments at different times. Blood hemoglobin content, hematocrit and red cell count were elevated under hypoxia compared to normoxia, at t = 5 weeks (p < 0.01) and similarly at t = 5 months (p < 0.01) (**). Mean red blood cell volume was slightly elevated under hypoxia compared to normoxia, at t = 5 weeks (p < 0.05) and slightly more at t = 5 months (p < 0.05) (*). Mice treated with dehydroepiandrosterone (named DHEAS in the table) had the same blood patterns than matching mice that did not received dehydroepiandrosterone (named Water in the table), whether under normoxia or hypoxia.
