From: Relation of exaggerated cytokine responses of CF airway epithelial cells to PAO1 adherence
Neuraminidase treatment alters cytokine responses in 9HTEo- cell lines. IL-8 (A) and IL-6 (B) responses to 109 CFU PAO1 or TNF-α/IL-1β are shown. For 9HTEo-pCEP cells, only IL-8 secretion increased, and only following treatment with C. perfringens neuraminidase (C.p.), not with the enzyme from S. typhimurium. However, 9HTEo-pCEP-R cells showed increased IL-8 response to PAO1 following treatment with either enzyme and IL-6 response to C.p. neuraminidase.
