The expression of TLR4 and TLR9 on CD8⁺ T cells from peripheral blood. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were isolated from the peripheral blood of COPD patients (n = 7-9) and control subjects (n = 6-8). The percentage of cells positive for CD8, TLR4 and TLR9 were determined by flow cytometry. TLR4 (A) and TLR9 (B) expression in PBMCs was significantly increased in COPD patients compared to healthy controls. PBMCs were double-stained with CD8 and either TLR4 and TLR9 and expressed as the number of CD8⁺ T cells expressing the receptor. There was no significant difference in the percent of CD8⁺ T cells expressing TLR4 (C) or TLR9 (D) in COPD patients vs. healthy controls.
