Heterozygosity of IL10 promoter SNP rs1800872 is negatively associated with risk of severe RSV bronchiolitis. Each line represents a different cohort, respectively the Dutch infants of the RSV-NPA study (n = 157), and the Dutch infants of the RSV-GENE study (n = 349) [39]. RSV infected infants in both cohorts were compared to the same group of population controls (n = 1008). Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were determined on genotype level, comparing heterozygote infants (CA) versus major homozygote infants (CC).
