From: Enhanced effector function of cytotoxic cells in the induced sputum of COPD patients
Proportion and type of lymphocytes from the induced sputum of HNS (n = 5), smokers (n = 10) and COPD subjects (n = 11). Results show a significant increase in the proportion of all three cytotoxic cells (CD8+, NK and NKT-like cells) in COPD subjects compared to HNS and smokers. Cell types were determined by flow cytometric analysis of monoclonal antibodies.
