PEEP application during mechanical ventilation induced fibrosis in the diaphragm is associating with TGFβ-1 and α-SMA upregulation. A–D Diaphragm protein lysates of the three groups were detected by Western blotting, and the expression of TGFβ-1 and α-SMA were quantified. Diaphragms of the three groups were detected by qPCR to analyze fibrosis-related gene expression. Values are represented as the mean ± SD. n = 6 (*p < 0.05)
