Mice were injected with BRD4 inhibitor JQ1 or vehicle control once a week from the first day of cigarette smoke (CS) exposure. After CS exposure for 12 weeks, mice were then infected with influenza virus or vehicle control. They were sacrificed and evaluated on day 7 after infection.
