Lipid species that showed significantly different intensity levels in sputum based on infection type for lipids identified in the positive mode, influenza A H1 (N = 9), Influenza A H3 (N = 11) and Rhinovirus (N = 10). All lipids showed significant differences in intensity based on Kruskal–Wallis analysis (p < 0.05). These are a subset of the lipids that were identified in the variable selection step prior to clustering (see “Methods” section for details)
