  1. A scoring system was adopted using capillary density, the presence of irregularly enlarged capillaries, hemorrhages and shape abnormalities. Total score was calculated by the sum of scores for each finger divided by the total number of fingers evaluated and was rounded to the next integer to define the risk group. Chi-square test was performed to evaluate statistical significance among the three groups. A p-value equal to 0.001 < 0.05 shows significant difference among groups
