Effects of LL-37 on CSE-induced TEER reduction in Calu-3 cells. a. Dose-dependent protective effects of LL-37 on CSE-induced TEER reduction. Cells were pretreated with or without LL-37 and then exposed to 10% CSE. TEER was measured at the indicated times. LL-37high: 20 μg/ml; LL-37low: 10 μg/ml. b. No additive effects of LL-37 in combination with BUD on TEER in Calu-3 cells exposed to 10% CSE. Cells were pretreated with 20 μg/ml LL-37 in combination with or without 10 nM BUD and then exposed to CSE for 12 h. All results are representative of at least two independent experiments. Data represent means ± SEM (n = 6–9 per group). *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001 by one- or two-way ANOVA as appropriate
