Effect of salmeterol and dexamethasone combination on the number, differentiation and β2-AR expression of fibrocytes from severe asthma patients. NANT cells from patients with severe asthma (n = 4–7) were treated with salmeterol (10−9 M) in the presence or absence of dexamethasone (Dex; 10−7 M) for 3 days. The number of fibrocytes (Col I+/CD45+ cells; a) and differentiating fibrocytes (α-SMA+ cells; b), as well as the percentage (Col I+/CD45+2-AR+; c) and median fluorescence intensity (MFI) ratio (d) of β2-AR–positive fibrocytes were determined.
