Weight loss and silicotic nodules in mice treated with crystalline silica. C57BL6 male mice were intratracheally injected with different amount of crystalline silica suspension. Mice were sacrificed 28 days later. a, Silica-induced body weight changes in mice were measured at 2, 4, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days following silica administration.
