C57BL/6 mice were first exposed to mainstream cigarette smoke (6 h/day, 5 days/week; 1 week at 100TPM/m3 and 3 weeks at 250TPM/m3) (CS) or filtered air (FA). a Mice were intranasally instilled with vehicle or 5 × 103 pfu IAV (IAV) or 4 × 106 pfu RSV (RSV) and lung tissues were harvested at 4 or 14 days post infection. b Mice were instilled twice a week with 50 μl of poly (I:C) (50 μg/50 μl) on the third and fourth week of CS exposure and lung tissues were harvested at the end of the 4 weeks of exposure
