EMMPRIN functional blocking antibody induces apoptosis in normal human lung fibroblasts: NHLF treated for 24 h with TGF- β1 in the presence of either EMMPRIN functional blocking antibody or IgG control antibody. Apoptosis was measured by (a) FACS analysis using annexin V/PI staining; (b) Cell Death Detection ELISA assay, each bar represents means ± SEM of 3 independent experiments, each run in duplicate, ** p < 0.001 comparing EMMPRIN functional blocking antibody to IgG control antibody treated cells; and (c) Western blot for caspase- 3 of cell lysates from NHLF treated with TGF-β1 (5 and 10 ng/ml) in the presence of EMMPRIN functional blocking antibody or IgG control antibody. β-Tubulin was used as the loading control.
