In the inflammatory phase, CHST3-mediated C6SPG regulated accumulation of macrophages and the mediators, leading to elastic fiber destruction. In the regeneration phase, CHST3-mediated C6SPG inhibits repair of elastin. CHST3 siRNA diminishes accumulation of excessive macrophage and mediators and accelerates the elastin recovery
