Dexamethasone (Dex) reduces interleukin (IL)-6 and CXCL8 release from human pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMC). Human PASMC were plated out at 5000/well in 96-well plates; serum-starved overnight, and treated with tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α (10 ng/ml) for 24 h in the presence and absence of dexamethasone (10−10–10−6 M) and IL-6 (a) and CXCL8 (b) release into the cell supernatant measured by ELISA. MTT assays were also performed to assess cell viability (c). Results represent mean ± SEM for n = 4, compared using 1-way ANOVA and Bonferroni’s post-test analysis. *p < 0.05, ***p < 0.001
