Cultures were treated from the basolateral side with 30, 50 and 100 μM CdCl2 for 24 h, and immunofluorescence staining was performed with antibodies for ZO-1 and occludin. Merged images demonstrated the colocalization of ZO-1 and occludin on the cellular borders in vehicle-treated control and 30 μM- and 50 μM-treated groups.
