Control of mucosal virus infection by influenza nucleoprotein-specific CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes

^a Splenocytes from Balb/c mice primed with influenza A/Taiwan (H1N1) virus were stimulated with 2 pfu/cell of recombinant Vac-NP or vaccinia-gp120 for 5 days. CD8⁺ T cells were obtained by positive selection using AutoMacs instrument. The percentage of CD8⁺ and CD4⁺ T cells determined by dual color flow cytometry and % lysis in purified CD8⁺ and CD8^- fractions are presented. ^b Lysis of P815 (H-2^d) target cells with the indicated infection was determined in the 4-hour chromium release assay. Percent specific lysis at 40:1 E:T ratio is shown. NT = not tested.
