Inhalation of salmeterol or salbutamol does not modulate neutrophil influx. Mice inhaled salmeterol or salbutamol before intranasal inoculation with 107 CFU NTHi. Some mice were injected with propranolol i.p. (10 mg/kg every 2 h). A, Salmeterol did not alter neutrophil influx in NTHi infected lungs as determined by whole lung MPO activity. Additionally, no effect of salmeterol or salbutamol could be observed on neutrophil influx in BALF at 6 h after NTHi infection (B).
