IL-1α mRNA expression in human monocytes treated with 10 μg/ml PM10 particles with and without calcium antagonists for 4 hours. The top panel shows a typical gel. The graph shows the IL-1α expression as a percentage of the GAPDH and normalised to the control. There was significantly greater expression of IL-1α mRNA in the PM10 treatment which was reduced to control levels with calcium antagonist treatment. Data represents the mean ± SEM of the mRNA intensity. (n = 3).
