Human pulmonary fibroblasts were grown in hypoxia for 4 and 8 days. Genomic DNA was bisulfite treated and methylation specific PCR (MSPCR) using unmethylated (U) and methylated (M) specific primers were used to investigate the methylation status of the Thy-1 promoter. MSPCR revealed Thy-1 promoter hemimethylation in hypoxic cells (n = 3) that was not present in normoxic controls (n = 3).Back to article page
