Enoxaparin and Akt deficient mice reduced the effects of hyperoxia on lung stretch-induced oxidant stress. Malondialdehyde (MDA) assay (A) and total glutathione (GSH) assay (B) of lung tissue were from control, nonventilated mice and mice ventilated at VT 30 ml/kg for 8 hours with room air or hyperoxia. Enoxaparin, 4 mg/kg, was given subcutaneously 30 minutes before ventilation (n = 5 per group). * P < 0.05 versus control, nonventilated mice; † P < 0.05 versus all other groups. Akt+/- = Akt deficient mice; LMWH = enoxaparin; RA = mice with room air.
