From: The emphysematous lung is abnormally sensitive to TRAIL-mediated apoptosis
H 2 O 2 and CSE sensitize A549 cells to TRAIL-mediated apoptosis. A549 cells were exposed to 500 μM hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), 5% cigarette smoke extract (CSE) and/or 30-100 ng/ml of recombinant human TRAIL (T30-T100) for [A] 6 h (caspase-3 activity) or [B] 24 h (Annexin V staining) in serum free media. Experiments were repeated three separate times. Results are expressed as means ± SEM. Bars with different superscripts are significantly different (p < 0.05).
